Feature Requests

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the wonderful product.
I am using HappyDays 3.0.1 on Palm Centro with CJKOS 4.63 installed.
I liked the function where you support the "Birthday" field. However, there are 2 issues as far as I can tell

1. when scanning the address book, the entries from "Birthday" field does not have "Event". I think they should be Birthdays. 2. When creating Date Book notify, it would be better off not to create entries for "Birthday" fields because palm has already created them.

Thank you again for the greate software.

Feature Request (possibly a bug?): When synchronising with MS Outlook, all birthday reminders show up as "whole day event" (which is normal ;-) and "Busy" (which is NOT normal). Can you set this from "busy" to "free" please?

Otherwise it's a great piece of software, works like a charm with my Palm Z22 :-)

Thanks!

Can you create a version for the Palm 800w. I love your program and have been using for many years and now have the 800w and it doesn't work. Please!!!

Hi I have been using Happydays for years on Palm with great success. I am now moving to iPhone. Is there any chance this is ported to iPhone? Many tahnks for answer.

iHappyDays has been released.

I just downloaded version 2.37 onto my Treo 700p but no entries were collected for me either.

I have used HappyDays for many years with older Palm PDAs. It has really helped me.

Use Happydays 3.x version.

It would be great if HappyDays could support dates such as "second Sunday in March." The Daylight Savings Hack supports these relative dates, perhaps you could find its source code and integrate it into HD.

Thank you very much for this application!

Do you by any chance know what code is needed to have the built-in icons from Contacts 1.3.3 show (I have a new Treo 700)? What I mean is, if you use the built in "Birthday" field then a little birthday cake will pop up in the calender for that listing & if you use the built in "Anniversary" field, a little ring will pop up in the calendar. I like this feature & am pretty sure it can work with Happy Days if I know what note to put in under "add this note". But I haven't been able to figure out the code to use. I prefer Happy Days for all my listings, 'cause I can set it to come up with the exact way I want it displayed & I can list more than one person that way.

Hi, First I want to say I LOVE your progam. I've been using it for years. I keep meaning to write & tell you that everytime I download the newest version I have to fix the name of the custom field (under Preferences) to say Birthday. For some reason it's labeled as "Geburtstag", which I think is Birthday in German. I just downloaded the latest version today & the same thing came up. So I thought I'd bring it to your attention. Thanks again for the great program.

Hi there! Thanks for this AWESOME program! It really rocks!!! Now, I¢¥ve switched to the Apple iPhone - Goodbye PALM OS! Any chance to see an iPhone version in the future ???? PLEASE, please, please!

cheers from Germany

Bernd

I allready use Happydays for over 10 years. Thank you for your continious development!

I am a user from China. I find HappyDays may sometimes mis-calculate the lunar dates. I read the answer of FAQ #13, and know it's caused by different time zones between Korea and China. This problem is really annoying, as I always mis-calculate the birthday of one of my friends. I am glad to see you seperated lunarlib.prc from the main program. So could you possibly develop a LunarLib.prc that's tuned for the Chinese users? Or at least you could open up the source so that the developers in China can modify it. Thanks very much!

I just upgraded from version 2.37 to 3.01. I had renamed my "Custom Field" to "Events" in HappyDays and Palm OS 5 Address Book so that I could put family events like Anniversaries there and yet let the Birthdays be handled exclusively by Address Book. It appears that the newer version of HappyDays grabs the Birthday from the Address Book "Birthday" field in addition to the Anniversaries I have in my "Events" custom field. Is there a way to stop this?

Now I always get dual address book entries for birthdays - 1 from Address book and 1 from Happy Days.

Maybe you need another preference flag to ignore built-in birthday field. I will add it in todo list.

Hi, Great program. I have been using for quite a while now and just upgraded to latest 3.01.

It appears that the PDF manual is corrupted since it only shows parts of pages.

Thanks

Hello, thank you for for Happy Days 3.0!

I'm looking forward to your enhanced feature to export lists above 4K-limit, as newer Palms are able to, too.

May I suggest two more things? 1. Allow first name and last name to be exported in different columns. 2. Allow "round" birthdays/anniversaries to be highlighted automatically. For example all years dividable with 5 or 10 to be shown in bold or colored font.

What do you think? Thank you, bye.

Dirk from Germany

There is modification in Agendus 11.x in meeting subject format: till 11 was: Last, First Subject from 11 is: Subject Last, First (Subject placed BEFORE name link)

The old format some time cause soft reset inside Agendus. Please, add new format to Prefs in HappyDays

In Happydays3.0b3, you can customize notification format.

I would also love it if you could support KeySuite and the associated KeyContacts and KeyDates data formats. I have 7 brothers and sisters and their families are growing rapidly. HappyDays is the only tool I have found to keep me in sync with birthdays and anniversaries. Thanks and keep up the good work.

John

Hola Jaemok Jeong, Greetings from Argentina. Thank you for HappyDays. Here's a neat Tip: In "Contacts" create a new catagory: HappyDays in there a new entry, Last Name: Birthday and no other info. In the Note field create:

Keep up the great work.
Bruce (a postcard is coming)
By the way, when is your birthday?

I would be very happy if you could support KeySuite in one of your next versions.

Thanks, Walter

I've been using this program for several years now and love it. Thanks!

Would it be possible to add alarm support to the 'To Do Notify' feature? As 'To Do' (or rather 'Tasks' as it is now called) in Palm OS 5 now allows you to set alarms, it would be good if this could be done from HappyDays. Currently I have to add the alarms separately after using 'To Do Notify'.

Thanks, Martok

I love HappyDays for many many years now. Mainly I use it because of its function 'Date Book Notify'. For the use with newer devices I'd really like to be able to configure the brackets around the "Year" field. I'd like to change them to some other characters (e.g. "") because the new Palm conduit for MS Outlook converts a year like (42) to the field 'Location' which isn't very helpful. (I use HappyDays version 30b3 now)

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but on the Treo680, in addition to the builtin "Birthday" field, there is also a builtin "Anniversary" field. Could this be supported as well so that both of these fields are automatically added to the list? I'm currently using 3.0b3

Just found version 3, works like a beauty with the new OS birthday field, thanks!!!

1 bug to report though: When sorting the list by age, the order of people with the same age in years is reversed -- i.e., the program thinks person born on March 3, 1995 is younger than person born on September 9, 1995.

I set up an address book entry with a list of holidays in the note field. Happydays adds these dates to the calendar, but it sets and alarm. I want these dates put in my calendar, but no alarm set. Is there a code or could a code be setup up to tell Happydays not to set an alarm fer certain entries or certain types of entries?

Thanks BH

Thanks for this program I love how it is free! I have a request for a bug fix: When sorting HappyDays by Age, the list of people within the same age group is appearing in the wrong order. Thanks, Michael

I would be very happy if you could support KeySuite in one of your next versions....

Please change the alarm option for the Date Book Notify a lttle bit. Make the time unit eligible so the user can choose between 'day(s)', 'hour(s)' and 'minute(s)': For untimed events like birthdays the user can set the alarm to '12 hours' and will be notified at 12:00 and not at midnight.

Is there a way to prevent HappyDays 3.0b3 from reading the Palm OS Birthday field, in case you have a contact with BOTH a birthday filled in that and in a Custom field?

Greetings: I am a long-time user of HappyDays. I read the email about the Palm TX. I, too, have a Palm TX that crashes when I use HappyDays to "DateBook Notify". Do I need version 1.3? If so, where may I find version 1.3?

Thanks,

Tom

You can download Happydays 3.0 version from HappyDays/Download page.

Hi there!

I have a Palm TX (before i had a Tungsten C, HappyDays workt ok).

Now the HappyDays do not update, no post at all.? There is a new program in TX Calendar v. 1.2.5

Hopful for answer

Lars-Erik

Use Happydays 3.0 version

This is a great program. I have donated some money to a charity as you suggested.

I saw somewhere that you might add zodiac support - I don't use zodiac and would prefer that this feature be set up so it can be turned off.

There are some dates I would like to view in HappyDays, but not have them added to the Datebook - Could it be set up to add a character to the dates that should not be added to DateBook? - Similar to what was done for the last name using the period.

Also, could it be set up to allow certain event types to be added to particular categories in the Datebook. Right now all events are added to the selected category. That setting could be used as the default for events not specifically designated. There could be an entry screen where user defined event names can be entered and set to the desired category. EX. Birthday event type goes to Celebrations category; Holiday type goes to Holidays; Business goes to Important, etc.

Thank you

- from BH

Hello,

I am using this great application for years now, but still missing High+ resolution support (320x480) on my Palm T5 - at least for portrait mode in order to utilize the whole screen for listing.

Thank's in advance, Frank (Germany)

Hello Jaemok Jeong, Thank you for such a great freeware! :)

Please consider the following: 1. Option to ignore Global-Find. 2. 'Security' menu-option to show private records & refresh. 3. Currently a 'Rescan' won't show private records if enabled within your app by another background app - could you fix that? 4. Even if 'Rescan' is set to 'Always', your app won't rescan if launched from a 'Find' result (i.e. not 'normal launch') - could you fix that too please? 5. Could you respect the "Mask' setting of private records? Viewing a shaded bar instead of a hidden entry, helps to remind that there IS an entry...;) 6. If a masked entry is clicked, Palm's normal behaviour should be issued: only the tapped record will be revealed in the 'Details' screen (like normal record tap), and when 'Done' is pressed, main screen should still mask all records.

Thank you, - Yuval.

GREAT APPLICATION!!!

Need

1. Support for birthday plese 2. How about automatically recognize the custom fields, and an option to show some or all of them, e.g: Anniversary (show) , but don't show custom field 'spouses' bday)

Please, add the Birthday field from KeyContacts!

Thanks, Walter from Germany

Hello,

I use HappyDays for years and switched to a Palm Tungsten E2. I've read in your FAQ that its hard to access the new data fields inluding the new Birthday field of the Tungstens. Isn't something to find here? http://www.palm.com/us/developers/palmos.html At least, there a a lot of synchronizing tools like the Outlook conduit and Pocket Mirror who can do it.

It would be great to use the new field to spare filling the data twice.

Bye,

Dirk from Germany

Hello, Thank you for the nice Happy Days freeware!

Can you please add an option to opt it out from global find?

PLEASE fix HappyDays!

I have used Happy Days for a long time on my other Palm devices but am having problems with my Treo 650. Has the lockup when executing a cleanup on a Treo 650 problem been corrected?

Mark

You're alive – thats brilliant! When will you fix happydays so it will work on the z22? (It looks like I'm not the only one with that problem.)

You are not developing this program anymore – is that correct?

I am still alive. :-)
-- jmjeong 2006-06-05 16:31:35

Z22 freezes.

<quote>Didler: I have a bug with my Treo 650. When I do Cleanup Date Book, I get the message Cleanup Done, but the Treo freezes. After I reset, the entries are still in the Date Book. I use the standard Date Book and Happy Days 2.37. </quote>

I have this same problem with my Tungsten T5. I would love to see this fixed. Otherwise, excellent program! I've been using it for years and it's one of my favorites.

Please, add the Birthday field from KeyContacts!

I'm really hoping you'll develop a version for Pocket PC. I love this tool and would hate to have to find something else to work on the iPAQ my company now requires.

Dan (New Jersey)

Great Programm! Can you please support the builtin-birthday-field of the T3?

Thanks! thomas (kiel, germany)

I just did an "export to memo pad", but I only got a partial happyday list. I think it is because my list is quite big. The memo pad contained 4186 characters (almost 4896=4K). Perhaps that's the max for a memo? You might consider opening a new memo, when the current record doesn't fit in the current memo anymore.

I really love the programme!!! P.S.: I'm running it on a Zire21

Happy Days Freezes after cleanup or Notify on Treo 650 ver 1.15. Used to work fine before hard reset. Custom field is set as Birthday.

Also allow the built-in field Birthday to be used to acquire birthdays from the address book. (yep, another birthday fields request)

Happy you! My Z22 freezes, even though I put the proper name of the birthday field. Can't you fix that?

Happy happy joy joy! Ignore my previous comment about the Sprint Treo 650.

Treo 650 owners out there-- all you have to do is remember to go to the Preferences after installation and put the proper name in for the Birthday field. I reinstalled from my old Palm and didn't do this step. Once I put in the proper name, I had perfect compatibility with my Treo 650!

This is my favorite program for my Palm. However, I recently "upgraded" from a Clie TJ-37 to a Sprint Treo 650. Oh no! HappyDays doesn't work anymore!

Can I provide any information to help you edit HappyDays so it works with the Sprint Treo 650? This would make my life joyous and complete.

Thank you!

Sorry to bring up this issue again. I have a Tungsten E running OS5.2.1 and I can't get the Palm built in 'birthday' field to be recognised by HappyDays. The Custom fields do work. What am I doing wrong? I tried HappyDays 2.22 and 2.37

Thanks

Andreas

yet another Birthday field support request!

what about multiple birthday/anniversary recognition from the multiple "custom" fields, or to add names for children/spouse of contact. I am running on Treo 650 and have had no problems...yet ;-)

p.s. nice program.

Col. Panich

On my Z22 it also crashes the whole Palm. What's wrong?

Under my Palm OS5 Tungsten E2 the Adressbook has already a Field "Birthday".

Is there a way to use this field instead of one of the custom-fields? (I don't want two Fields "Birthday" in my Adressbook)

Thank you very much!

Wannaevil

P.S. I should have read the messages on this request before i was typing this one... :-)

Thanks for this great program.

I have a bug with my Treo 650. When I do Cleanup Date Book, I get the message Cleanup Done, but the Treo freezes. After I reset, the entries are still in the Date Book. I use the standard Date Book and Happy Days 2.37.

Thanks Didier dduplech@hotmail.com

Hello ! I'm a french user of this beautiful soft. I also upgrade to a new palm which have a birthday field but the soft doesn't read this field. Could u add recognition of this field ?? thanks

Yet another request for Birthday field support.

I used happydays on my zire31 and was very happy with it :-). Had to replace it an bought a Z22. Now happydays just crashes the Palm and I have to do a reset. Is there a fix for that?

Not sure how many others have gone to using DataViz's Beyond Contacts for broader Outlook synchronization. Major problem with BC is that HappyDays apparently can no longer scan the needed fields to import its info. Can you help??

Please add recognition of Palm's own Birthday-field in contacts! So I'm not forced to enter the user-defined field.

Whenever I try to run HappyDays, I get the message "Please run Date Book once first." My PDA is Palm Tungsten T3. The datebook program has been replaced with the Calendar program. What should I do? My email is jlsintl@mozcom.com.

Please, add the Birthday field from KeyContacts!

Yet another vote for fixing the issue with lockups on Treo 650. If you need help debugging, etc, post a note to the yahoo group - I'm sure you'll find plenty of folks happy to check out the betas, etc!

ok. Want to know how to fix the f002 error? If you are running ActiveSync with Exchange and are getting the f002 sync error, it is a problem with the WeekView program. Don't use it and use calendar instead.

Compability with Iambic Agendus "Birthday" extended field and with "Birthday" field in the new OS.

HappyDays crashes -- with a "fatal exception" -- at launch on my Tungsten T5 (ver. 5.4.5). I really miss it! Assuming this can be fixed, I also vote to retain the custom Birthday field since it does not require the year to be specified.

If you integrate the birthday field, please don't take away the custom field. That part is why I love this program. I can put a entire families birtdays in one contact, rather than having to create a seperate contact for every family member. Please KEEP the custom field.

You are awesome, this is one of my favorite programs. I will be sending a post card shortly. I also would like to request support for the Treo 650, it currenlty locks up the device when you try to use the remove entries from calendar feature. Thanks again for such an awesome product!

another vote for Treo 650 support... please...

Option to have alarms on ToDo Notify. Treo 650 has alarms in the built-in ToDo application.

Please make a JAVA version! I¢¥d love to use HAPPYDAYS on my SONY K750 cell phone and I¢¥m sure, there will be thousands more!

Can a checkbox be added to always ignore invalid entries?

Another vote to fix the DateBook Cleanup on the Treo 650. The add and modify work fine. Only the Cleanup hangs for me and does not delete any records.

I have been using this program for a while. Upgraded to a Treo 600 and now for some reason any entry in contacts that has a company name in it is listed in happydays as

company, last name

instead of l ast name, first name like it always did before. Please fix this and make a great program even better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One more vote for Treo 650 support. I miss being able to use the program!

How about the ability to use custom fonts? Plucker (www.plkr.org) is GPLed and supports the ability to use custom fonts, and fonts can be in an SD card.

It seems that the new treo's and Tungsten T5's use a new database format for the datebook events and it uses an api to suppert the old format for old applications (like Happydays).

Palm has brought out a ROM update that fixes some incompatibilities. I haven't tried it as i have no real issues with Happydays on my Treo 650. I get the error after cleanup but thats it.

Supporting the Treo and newer palms need a complete new branch of the application.

yes, the integrated Birthday field for Treo 650 and fixing the hanging problem when cleanup is done... thanks...

I loved the program on my older Palms. However, on my Treo 650, I can't even open the program. It says to "please run Date Book once first." After opening the Date Book that comes with Palm (and my downloaded Datebook 5) it still gives the same message and won't open. Thank you for any advice, Sincerely, Larry Robinson larry@scientist.com

Hi! Thank you for this software! Please, add the Birthday field from KeyContacts!

Another Treo 650 support vote - I miss ability to link to integrated Birthday filed. Thanks

hi

Would it be possible to use the Palm internal field of birthday instead of the custom field.

The rest of the features appear to work fine. Otherwise I love the Program.

Groovy Program! I use it all the time. Just upgraded to a Treo 650, so here's another vote for compatibility with the integrated Birthday field. Thanks, ModBot.

HappyDays' datebook notify events don't synchronize with VersaMail's Exchange ActiveSync on Treo 650 (VersaMail version: 3.0Ag5 Nov 15, 2004). VersaMail gives this error: "There was a problem syncing events. Please select the Sync button to try again. (F002)" Syncing again doesn't result in an error, but the events are not available in the Outlook like they should be.

New Palm OS has a birthday field already assigned. I currently have to customize one filed to Birthday instead of being able to use the Palm OS birthday field already included in Address book. Love your program and have been enjoying it for years. Also a Treo 650 user.

Can you provide a way to accept holidays like Mother's Day which is set at the 2nd Sunday of May? Thanks aaloneft@spidernet.com.cy

I've used happy days for 3 years now and absolutely love it. I'm switching to a pocket pc, however, and would also like to put in the request for a port to PPC compatible format.

I like the wonderful program, but only in Palm, I have advance Mobile Phone to day. Why not create the HappyDays for Mobile Phone with Sympian: one example is Ericsson 910.

please please make this wonderful program compatible with my T5 :)

Treo 650 compatibility.

I have been using your happydays with my palm pda and it is a great program especially lunar/solar convertion capability; unfortunately I have just invested in O2 mini which is a pocket pc os and you haven't got Happydays for PPC yet. Really looking forward to you releasing the Happydays for pocket pc. Thank you

You should make it optional to use the built in birthday in Palm OS 5.2+ (like allowing use of notes field).

1) Use Palm 5 built in birthdate field

2) Make it so you can add several people to the todo list at once. (check boxes, or an option to add all within next 7, 14, 30 days or something like that.

Support the birthday field in the Palm OS5 Contacts database as installed on the Treo 650.

Gordon French gordonf@bellsouth.net

Great program! Thanks for all your efforts. Are there any plans to offer a future date countdown? An example would be upcoming wedding. You put in the target date and then HappyDays could be configured to create Calendar events for milestone days in advance of that big day. Something like your feature to show nth day after an event, but this would be a countdown to a date.

Treo 650 compatibility.

please setup to work with outlook's Birthday field already set in outlook. This is probably the one thing that's keeping a lot of people from using this great program.

Also I'd like to say Its a greate app - Thanks for making it Freeware !

I also would like to ask for - Add the option of using the internal birthday field on PalmOS v5 PDAs, instead of having to define a custom field.

please add key contacts asap

About the request bellow - if you have an alternative solution (some way to change format, or something), I'll be thankful if you could write me at jlivni@bezeqint.net

The request: Please make HappyDays support the following birthday format: DD-MMM-YY, where the days and years are numerical and the months are three letter acronyms. Reason: While synching the custom field "Birthday" to Outlook 2003's birthday field using Chapura's Pocket Mirror, all the birthdays changed their format to the specified format above.

Add the option of using the internal birthday field on PalmOS v5 PDAs, instead of having to define a custom field.

I have a few records that bring up "Invalid event format'. It is related to OLD folks with birthday's 3/29/34, and 8/21/28.

The address for record contains an invalid event. How would you like to handle it?

I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THESE 2 ENTRIES. Your help would be appreciated. Love you application Happy Days. karey@insideoutperspective.ca

Do you have plan to write the same program for Pocket PC. Many PPC users are looking for the program like this.

Add event "Death" (so we can remember our loved ones that are gone).

Can I have a 'mixed situation i.e. some records have dates in the Custom Field and other have dates in the Notes filed ?

I just installed your program on my Palm V. Great !!

However I just can not seem the program to take the entries from the Note field of an address book entry.

I did read the manual, this is what my entry look like:

Can you tell me what's wrong please, maybe the person with the Palm Zire has a similar issue ? I get no error message that the date format would be wrong so. I do have a tick in the Scan note field Preference.

Thanks and Happy Holidays !!

I have Palm Zire and use happydays. I have one of my customizable fields in the address book containing the birthday. This works perfect.

I do have a suggestion though. I have a lot of addresses of families containing e.g. 4 people. They live on the same address etc. and the only thing which is different is there birthday. I don't want to make 4 entries but only one. But I would like to have the possibility to enter more than one birthday. E.g. in the note field of that record.

Would this be possible that Happyday supports this?

It was already supported in HappyDays. Please read the manual.

Could you add support for the new Birthday field of the Contacts application (1.0.1) on the Tungsten 3 (PalmOS 5.2.1)

Treo 650/ Tungsten 5 support.

I haven't tested on the Tungsten 5, but it appears that Happydays 2.33 reads the contact list correctly and properly reports the birthdays within the program. The problem seems to be with exporting to the datebook, or cleaning up the datebook. Happydays reports that the records have been updated/removed, but then crashed and enters a reset loop. A warm reset (hold up button and reset) is required. The datebook seems to be intact afterwards and not corrupt.

Thanks so much. We love Happydays!

Hi, I love the Happy Days. Thank you very much for you program. But please move "Support KeyContacts for address book replacement" to wll be added in near future list! PLEASE!

Please add a feature to RE-IMPORT the "HappyDays Export List" from Memo Pad.

(This would make the "Export to Memo Pad" feature a true backup solution)

Please consider using February 28 instead of February 29 when it's not a leap year. Some people prefer this and in the US, legally 28th is to be used in non-leap years. A person who's birthday is February 29 would legally be considered an adult on the 28th of February 18 years later.

Hi! I recently discover that also Custom fields from Custom 5 to Custom 9 dont work for HD v2.33 (my T3 have 9 custom fields...). Can this be added? ThankYou by DamjanG

This is response to M505 bug fix request for v2.33. I had the same problem with latest version downloaded from palmgear but info screen showed version as v2.22 not v2.33. Downloaded latest version from this site and info screen now shows correct version v2.33 and bug has disappeared.

This is not so much a feature request as a bug fix request.

I have just downloaded v2.33 version and installed on a standard M505. This version locks up the Palm and requires a 'hard' reset to get running again. I note that this is documented as being fixed in v2.26 but the bug seems to have crept back in with this latest release.

Will HappyDays support beyond contacts by DataViz?

I have Agendus 8.0 and I would like to make Happy Days go to my contact book in Agendus instead of the default address book but I can't find it in the drop-down list in the prefs screen. I can see a few choices but where is Action names? Am I missing something or can't you so this?

Zire 31 also has birthday field in Contacts database. Would love something that could move this into a form that DateBk5 could understand

In function Date Book Notify with actuate the time also the end time take over. Register in Datebook then with this period.

Reason for the extension: Under iCal (Mac OSX) all dates are put one above the other, if the starting time is equal and the length 0 minutes. Only the highest date can be selected and you see only the top entry. If the period is greater zero, the dates are represented next to each other.

If you have some question, you can contact me under: Michael.Steder@web.de

Tungsten T3 has a real Birthday field (i.e., it's not a renamed custom field). It would be nice if it were possible to get the data from that. (I'm not sure if it's applicable to other Palms or not; the OS version is 5.2.1)

An added bonus, probably beyond the scope of this program's intended functionality, would be the ability to move data back and forth between the birthday field, for those of us who are upgrading from an older palm :)

Hi, I love this software. For Palm OS 4 or below users it's a must! However, I'd like to have more flexibility in the format of datebook notification. For example, I'd like to have the format "First Last Event Year". A suggestion may be a customizable format, but I do not know how hard this could be. Anyway, congratulations for this great software, Carlos

I have used happydays on my Palm for nearly 4 years and I really love it. I have just moved to using a Sony P900 so I was wondering if you had any plans to port the application to UIQ. I would love it if you need ;-)

Please email me topdog129@hotmail.com

happy days freezes after select te menu date book notify creates the records but not retur to the main screen m130 palm os 4.11?

Please fix this problem, Happy Days doesn't do me much good the way it is now. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/happydays-palm/message/647

Thanks, Mike

Please give better help on adding icons to datebook5. I see other people have asked about this too. After much pain, I figured it out. Here is the trick!!! I like the program, but adding this help will really be nice. PS - ver 2.33 pdf manual is not readible in US Acrobat reader without Korean add-in support.

In Datebook 5, create some appointment, and using datebook5, pick the icon you want to use for HappyDays. If you go to the note field, the icon info is hidden, it is not shown there visibly in datebook5. BUT... Find the normal Palm desktop program on your palm (the default one that came with the unit). Find the appointment with the icon, and you will see the note there. View the note, and it will show something like this: ##@@@w@@@@@@@@@@@@@ This is what must be put in the HappyDays program under the DateBook Notify, Note section. So copy this note text to the clipboard, start HappyDays, and paste it in!

I see that you are considering adding support for KeyContacts. I would like to see this support added too.

You have a great program. Keep up the good work.

Support for the birthdate field (T3) Thanks

Hello, and at first bravo and thank you for this software. In the last version of Agendus 8.0, there is a special field 'Birthday' I do not arrive HappyDays to get back this info, instead of being obliged to use one fields free? Thank you in advance

Support the new Tungsten T3 calendar "birthday" field instead of one of the custom fields

Could you please add support for the input formats that you currently have for your program HolidayDB (and HolidayDBMaker)? These would be Fixed Day (which HappyDays already accepts), Day of Month, and Easter-related.

Hi~ In edition 2.03 the HappyDays still had the function "add Icon". But in the newer version, it seems being removed. will u going to put it back to the newer version. bicos it's really very useful. thks a lot ~ thks

Hello,

Could you please fix a bug: If you type "Anniversaire" (Birthday in Fench) in the Preferences/Personal field it automaticaly add this string behind after that you validate your change: "n*HD:".

My environnement: - Palm T3 in Fench. - PalmOS 5.2.1. - HappyDays version 2.33.

You can contact me at jplb.info@worldonline.fr for more details.

Regards, Jean-Philippe

May You add Birthday field support (from Contacts 1.xx in TT3) and the big TT3 screen support?

Thanks in advance Damjan

Oh by that I mean have an option to automatically display the next lunar birthday (and have an option to create a reminder on that day) for a person based solely on the first solar birthday. Thanks!

Hi there, your program is great, but I have two requests: Could you put in an option to display the lunar date in the HappyDays View screen? Also, if you could also display the Chinese Zodiac animal as well, that would be awesome! Thanks for a your hard work!

Hi,

I love the Happy Days product!

I bought a new Palm Tungsten E and noticed the following:

Thanks, Robin.

How do I get the dates that I need to remember listed in the happy days program. I also need to find out what the N, D, A mean at the bottom of the program when I open it. Please email me at chancebradley@yahoo.com

Thank you very much for you program. Thanks for releasing it to the public. Would love to have support for the KeyContacts program. Thanks

Would it be possible to get the birthdays to display with that cute little birthday cake icon that OS5 & Tungsten E's have.

Great job on getting the category choice in version 2.3.2

Allow me to enter the alarm days as part of an individual birthday entry, in which case that will override the default.

Say, as "* John 10/1/1960 5"

Then, if I do a "Date Book Notify" for all and my default is 3, John's birthday will still get an alarm 5 days before.

Great program! Thanks!

Exporting entire address books to move them from one palm to another is difficult when one of the individual fields has carriage returns in it. Could you add an additional "end of line" delimiter that's not carriage return? So for instance, we could do:

I am trying to add an icon to all my birthday entries. In MemoPad, I created a memo as follows:

It doesn't seem to work. I am using DateBook5

Support the Birthday filed of Calender on OS 5.2.1 of Tungsten T3/Tungsten E, please :)

Can you please allow for category choice when inputting into calendar like on the Tungsten E. This would be great so it doesn't all fall into the ugly gray "unfiled" category"

-I would like to have the ability to choose a category when I export to the DateBook. This feature exist in the To Do Export. -I would like that HappyDays supports the 320*480 of Tungsten T3 -The ability to have and use the icons of DateBk

Otherwise, very good and useful application. thanks a lot

Japanese version of Addressbook uses \01 as a separator between Kanji and Kana both first and second name. Could you handle this binary character as a end of string? We don't need Kana displayed.

Tungsten E has the ability to chose a "category" for calendar entries. Palm Calendar version 1.0

Would it be possible to allow the next release to allow for the selection of a category so the entries don't all come in as "unfiled".

I'm using Tungsten E, and its datebook (renamed to Calendar) has category. I hope HappyDays has an option to set category when doing Date Book Notify.

Inyeol Lee <inyeol.lee@ieee.org>

Is it possible to use the Birthday field of Tungsten E/T3 as an additional field? Now I have birthdays which are kept twice: once in birthday field, and the second in Events field (field used by HappyDays). Of course I have also double birthday notification in Datebook... which is ugly.

Thank you.

Can I set the advance day at "todo nodify" just like at "datebook nodify".

Thanks.

Would it be possible for HappyDays to recognise which address book contacts are marked "private" and apply the same privacy setting to the datebook entries?

Can this include a dropbox for your existing OS5 Calender categories. This would allow the entries to not show up as unfiled in the newer calendar and palm desktop version.

Great, great, great program!!!

Only two things to ask:

1) If there isn't an age, don't put the last " " after name. I'm asking that because of A5, that sees the last " " int the entry as an option to make it bold

2) Please, please, please support A5 categorys

Thanks for the great app. Pescuma

I really like your program! It was jus the program I needed to keep up with all birthdays on my Tungsten T2!!

Jus a small request, if I use 'no time' and check the alarm checkbox. The alarm sounds at 0.00. That's not really handy. But if I fill in a time, the birthday also has the same time (so not still untimed, it's an event)

Looking forward to new features. I'm using icons in Agendus! without any problems. Just make one example like you want it. Open with the built-in datebook, copy the note-attached to the event. In HappyDays copy your note into the 'note' field. Problem solved!

Greetings, Mart Elzink, martopreis@hotmail.com

Great little program! Keep up the development and new features.

My Psion was stolen so I am new to Palm and bought a Tungsten T3 (OS v5.2.1) in December 2003. I am using the custom field in Contacts as Birthday and making multiple entries in that field and everything works fine except that I cannot get any icons. Have I missed something? Can you please advise me?

I support the requests for utilising the built-in birthday field and the idea of different icons for different event types that you are considering.

Thanks, Andrew Chapman (andrew.chapman@talk21.com) 18 Feb 2004

Great app! Thanks for releasing it to the public. I have two feature requests:

1) Support the Anniversary feature in DateBk5 by adding another Notify Format with the 4-digit year. This would allow users to enter "-1" for an infinite repeat (where there is only one database entry in the date book instead of HappyDays making multiple entries) and still allow the age to be displayed on the date book, calculated by DateBk5 instead of HappyDays.

2) Allow the second data entry field to be blank to prevent having to retype the contact name for a non-default event. For example, with a wedding anniversary for a contact named Smith, Joe & Judy, the entry now has to look like this:

Instead, it should be easier to just use a blank space (or some other delimiter) for the name, i.e.:

Thanks! Alan Dobkin (submitted on 2/15/2004)

I just downloaded HappyDays and like the program. To make it useful to me I need to be able to put more than one even into the Birthday custom field, like birthday and anniversary. I cannot use the note field because I sync with ACT and my note from there are synced with the note field. It shows me my most recent notes and the note I enter in for Happydays eventually would scroll off the bottem. Is there a way I can use the Birthday field to enter in muliple dates? Please let me know if this is possible, if not please consider adding this fetaure.

Great little program Regards, Steve Wetzel steve.wetzel@tds.net

You can enter multiple dates in Birthday field. Refer HappyDays/Manual.

I'm also testing KeyContacts and I am very pleased about the features. Because I dont't want to miss HappyDays in the future I'm also interestet to include the KeyContcts support. Michael (michael.amtmann@magnasteyr.com)

I would be very interested in the Key Contacts feature !! I was using Birthdate, which does not work with Key Contacts !? Using a Tungsten T3 Would you please notify me about any moves in this direction

Nicky_Szapary@compuserve.com

FORGET THE LAST POST BENEATH!

God, I should've RTFM... your program works GREAT!!! Thank you so much.

If you could just only support the Penticon's Hebrew application, it'll be awesome.

Thanks again and sorry to clutter this page coz' of not reading the manual...well, now I did :)))

Support for Penticon's Hebrew Address Book (http://www.penticon.com/ha_download.html) It shouldn't be difficult, since it's just a localized version of the original, using same controls and databases.

Also, though I submitted that on PalmGear too, support a date without year ("D/M" or "M/D" based on system's prefrences) for the sake of girls who want tell me their age! ;-D And, support 2-digits year on the custom field, assuming current year as a treshold (and/or set one in prefrences) to decide 19xx or 20xx.

Thank you!!!

Would also love suppert for KeyContacts.

Hello!

Thank you for this excellent piece of software! Could you please add the built-in Birthday field from Contacts?

Awesome Application! Thank you for making it free.

My suggested feature: (Date Book) Notify category!

It's nice to be able to categorize entries in the HappyDays application itself, but someone else requested, a "category" selection in the datebook notify just like in Todo notify would be EXTREMELY useful.

Thanks!

Hi there!

It would be nice if I could assign an ICON to an event (already considered as far as I see).

And you should either expand the event scheme list with some schemes, especially Last name First name (Year), or add a custom field where the user can set his/her preferences concerning the event scheme, e.g. %L %F (%Y), where %L means Last name and so on.

However, congratulations on developing one of the best GNU programs, which is very useful for me as I have a Sony Cli?with PalmOS 5.0, and there aren't any birthdate fields in this OS version yet.

Would love to have support for the KeyContacts program from Chapura. Thank you.

Can you add to the next Happydays Update: Add 320 X 480 screen support for T3. Add Screen rotate for T3.

I would like to request support for Beyond Contacts (a DataViz application); I use this as a replacement to address book

thank you!

Can this program allow for OS5 Calendar Categories to be chosen.

This would allow OS5 users to take advantage of the color coded categories in the calendar entries of OS5.

Thanks Jen

Have B, A, E or H appear for Birthday (anniversary of birth), Anniversary (personal aniverary such as wedding etc), Event (something memorable such as !st lunar landing) or Holiday (day off work) Allow for a selection of 4 icons - one for of the above.

Please, no biorhythm or zodiac (or offer them as optional plugins). Add support for Palm 320x480 and landscape mode.

Hi... I am Palm Tungsten E user. I am happy to give you a some request as a one user of your application. And I appreciate you for developing excellent application which can fulfill my palm life.

Anyway! After changing my palm device, Palm OS 5 supports birthday field in contacts which is contained in basic palm launcher. But in your applicatiom, only custom field is available to display in HappyDay.

So I eagerly request that you add functionlity in which I could get birthday information from contacts.

Thanks in advance.. and I hope this functionality will be included sooner.

I'm using it on a Tungsten E. My request is to be able use the internal birthday field of contact app from palm soft. (and, of course, congratulations for a great job with this great app)

Add Alarms for first Lunar day of month and fifthteenth Lunar day of month. This resembles some 2 weekly religious events.

This will be quite simple after coding internal alarms.

If anybody has an idea how to code internal alarms, I would like to try it. contact at happydays at rameria dot de.

Hi, me again. I just found the private option... sorry for the trouble... :-) - Is there a way to set an alarm without sound (I don't want to be waken up at midnight to remember a birthday) ? - What about the use of icons under agendus ? This program is close to perfection. Nicolas

Hi ! Thanks for this great program ! Is it possible to have an option (preferences) to choose if the events are private or not. I am using Happydays on a Clie 610C with agendus, and all event are private. Thanks again Nicolas

Support for Palm Tungsten T3

Thank you

It woud be nice to have this notification format : First_Name Last_Name, Year

in order to use DateBk5 age calculation feature (it needs the comma, space, year)

Thank you very much for you program. I have to say it is one of the most useful program I ever have. I have two suggestions and hope you can consider to add these features into next version. 1. Add Easter and father /mothers day. These days usually happens in some sundays of a month without a particular date.

2. Add the day (Mon, tues, Wed...) to the final display.

Thanks.

Having used HappyDays a little bit more here's some more requests:

Simon's Birthday (1,2000) Our Wedding Anniversary (1,2000)

where custom field/notes include:

Presumably with the source code available I could have a go at some of this myself and feed back? I should note that I'm not a programmer but merely an amateur (I haven't done much C).

Many thanks,

Simon

Dea JmJeong,

Please support KeyContacts asap. Thank you.

Dear JmJeong,

Sorry, after carefully reading the user's menu, I reallied that the built-in date type of Palm OS should be between 1904 and 2301.

Thank you for the wonderful program.

Sincerely,

James

Dear JmJeong,

One more bug.

The program can not accept the birth year before 1903. In other word, people's age can not exceed 100.

Thank you for the wonderful program.

Sincerely,

James jamesaab@ms7.hinet.net

Dear JmJeong,

I found the program(v.2.28),in both Solar to Lunar or Lunar to Solar converts, can only convert the date between 1900 to 2043, instead of 1881 to 2043.

Thank you for the nice program.

Sincerely,

James

Just started using this program (v2.28) on my Sony Cli?PEG-SJ22 with no apparent problems but then I haven't finished adding all of my contact addresses, etc.

What is missing though is the ability to specify a day of the week in a month as opposed to a date so that you can schedule flexible events.

I see that some others have requested this feature and would like to add my support for it - something like 1mon/1 or mon1/1 for 1st Monday in January, 2mon/1 or mon2/1 for 2nd Monday in January, etc. This would leave mon/1 for every Monday in January which could be good if you have a meeting every Monday morning, etc. (though you can't indicate a time ... perhaps program would need to be renamed to NotSoHappyDays then!?).

Many thanks, Simon.

Thanks for the great program, especially the Lunar date feature. 2 feature requests: 1, add day of week notation: such as 4th Thursday of November is Thanksgiveing 2, add Easter based notation: "easter sunday" and "palm sunday" is 7 days before "easter sunday".

Hi,

please can you add another "Notify Format" so that the age is not in round brackets like "(" and ")". Outlook puts the age into the Location field when () are used. When I then synchronise with my mobile phone, I loose the ages as the location is not synchronised.

Thanks Mike

I've been using your program for a very long time and love every bit of it. The fact that it translates lunar dates to calendar dates is the biggest asset of the program being that I'm Korean leaving in the U.S. But just a few days ago, I've upgraded my beloved it T2 to Tungsten T3, and the program no longer works due to Palm's updated Calendar (used to be called Datebook) format. It now includes a field for "Birthday" as a default. Although I've changed one of the custom fields to Birthday and have the date listed. HappyDay no longer able to scan the dates. I'm pretty bummed. I see that you will support the new format. Any idea when the new release be available? Thanks you and keep up the good work. Rgds, Chris Lee

There is no information about SDK of updated PIMS software yet, and I don't have Tungsten T3; I envy you ;-) When PalmOne release the SDK of Updated PIMS, I will add the facility to use updated PIMS information.

I will support the last two requests concerning the use of the birthday field in Contacts in the new Tungsten T3.

Use of the birthday field in the new contacts app of the Palm Tungsten|T3

The Tungsten T3 has a birthday item in the addressbook. Can you have your program use this?

Great Program! I was searching something like this... and SURPRISE... it's GNU!!!!! I think you could add Chinese Zodiac (dragon, chiken, etc) and the other one (Scorpio, virgo, cancer, etc). Add some icon for different event... tnx

Great program!

Can add a "category" selection in the datebook notify just like in Todo notify? Thank you!

How about to have a support of Agendus as an address book replacement ?

Please Make a french version !!!!!!

This program is great! Very elegant implementation - much nicer than the bloated birthday program I bought a while ago. Thank You!

Hi - I really like Happy Days! Works great on my Tungsten T. Here are a couple of requests: 1. Add support for DateBook5. For example, icons. 2. Add icon support to Happy Days 3. Add color and font preferences

First of all, sorry for mein english.

I looking for an icon, (maybe an default one), if i dont use e.g. DB3/4.

In my case i use Agendus

For the ToDo notify: I would like to be able to set the ToDo a few days ahead of a birthday. Preferably configurable for each contact: using the note-field with a ToDo-ahead command perhaps?

I would like to see support for DataViz Beyond Contacts, a adress book replacement with all Outlook fields and no need of a special field mapping like PocketMirror or IntelliSync.

I know this is only a minor complaint, but would it be possible to make the background of the HappyDays icon transparent in 'list' mode of the Applications laucher? Thanks!

Haha... I didn't realize you already had those features under "Considering" -- thank you for making HappyDays a freeware product! =)

Could there be an optional column of astrological signs (Taurus, Cancer, etc. and Sheep, Rat, etc.)? - or user-defined signs?

Thanks to make HappyDays as freeware ;-) It's much better than other birthday reminder programs

Hi dude,

I like HappyDays!! This is a must for us. However we'd like it to alarm every day from two weeks before the day. Is it possible? Best, Denes

You could add database of Starsigns, and Wedding anniversary types so by simply knowing the birthdate you could also see this person is a Scorpio or Leo, or born in the Chinese Year of the Horse. Also you could then see this is the 12th wedding anniversary - traditional gift is Silk (http://www.chipublib.org/008subject/005genref/giswedding.html). Just an idea.

Can you add an option to only display events of one type. e.g. Birthdays or Weddings. You could then allow Datebook to be updated with only these events.

instale happy days en una Palm Zire pero no se como introducir los datos.

Can you include explanation of how to get icons in datebook5? The manual just says refer to "their" manuals. Also, for 2.28, the .zip file does not contain the manual.

Thanks

como puedo introducir mas eventos o cumpleaños en la misma direccion,he tratdo pero no puedo. gracias laura m. de mestre

In previous version of HappyDays it was possible to select easily an icon for DateBk or Agendus... Now we have only the possibilty to add a Note. So i have to go in my normal DateBook to see what is the note joined to my events and copy and paste it in Happydays ! It would be also great if we could choose the "category" !

When "Date Book Notifys" are created, I like to set an alarm a few days before a birthday, and I don't want it to look like a meeting or something like that, so I set it up for "No Time" (the default setting). But then HappyDays create the alarm to go off at midnight, and I definately do not like that ;-) Is it possible to create the Date Book entries as untimed events, but with an alarm at some time other than midnight? Now that would be nice.

1. Some of this holydays is on 1st Friday of month, 2ns Sunday ¡¦ and so on ¡¦ But in HappyDays app I can't handle it :-( because every year 2ns Sunday of January is different day.

What about of supporting of this type of date (not exactly 01.01.2003 but ¡¦ 2monday.01 or 2mon.01 for second Monday of January)?

2. What about of displaying different categories for each type of event (Holyday, Birthday ...) in app?

3. I thing that is will be very useful to support to enter different icons for different types of event (for datebook notifying) - one for birthdays, second for holydays, and so on ...

4. If length of holyday is not very small (normal name of holyday is 20-40 chars) this name is not wrapping in "happydays view" form

5. I want to handle all name days, but this days is not 1 time in year - some of them is 2-10 times (in russian calendar). What about of supporting list dates for one holyday. And the syntax (in note field) may be:

6. One more: maybe instead of "displaying different categories for each type of event" use different colors for each event type?

Done

How about a way to give different icons to different event types? : I agree, automatic icons for different events would be great. Datebk5

If the year is omitted from the date, don't assume 2000. I use the format YYYY.MM.DD, and if I don't know how old someone is, I'll just put in .MM.DD instead. When HappyDays scans, it assumes zero for the year, which translates to 2000 (no doubt yy to yyyy conversion), and then everyone who I don't know the age turns 3 this year. :-)

Use MM.DD instead of .MM.DD
